Tokyo – Hiyama Sukiyaki

Tokyo – Hiyama Sukiyaki

The only Michelin star sukiyaki restaurant that’s also a butcher shop

Picky Eats – This sukiyaki restaurant was very nice. The front is a butcher shop that sells all sorts of meats, but the back is a small room with a stove. After being seated, an assistant comes to cook food for you! Most of the food is meat, but there is also tofu and some really orange eggs! I would recommend this restaurant for anyone that likes meat!

WHAT THE PARENTS THINK

Hiyama is part high end butcher shop and restaurant. It’s tatami seating with private rooms and they only serve sukiyaki. A lady in a kimono will cook your food. Everyone is given a very fresh raw egg to dip the meat into. I don’t eat raw eggs very often, but this place knows what they’re doing. You can decide if you want to dip it or not.

Sukiyaki is thinly sliced high quality meat that’s cooked in a soy base on a hot metal bowl. It typically comes with seasonal vegetables and other condiments. I don’t need to tell you how good it is. They have the best Wagyu A4-A5. Minor detail, also a Michelin star restaurant.

We do not speak Japanese, but the hostess that took care of us was very patient and took the time to explain everything to us.
