San Diego – Disney Wonder Cruise – 5 Night Mexican Riveria

YES MAY I PLEASE HAVE ANOTHER SERVING OF THAT

Picky Eats – The Disney Cruise was amazing! There were many activities, like foosball and fireworks, but there was excellent food as well. My family and I mainly went to one restaurant on the ship called Cabanas for breakfast and lunch. It has a buffet which changes every meal. There was quite a variation of dishes. For breakfast, there was waffles, pancakes, protein, fruit, an assortment of pastries, and more. For lunch, the food sometimes changed. There were noodles and fried chicken and some other dishes from different cuisines. There also was a wide assortment of desserts shown below. For dinner, every group was assigned a restaurant for each night. The three restaurants were Triton’s, Tiana’s Palace, and The Animator’s Palette. Accompanying each meal was a theme and food associated with that theme. Triton’s was a more formal restaurant, Tiana’s was semi-formal, and Animator’s Palette was the least formal. Overall, the food was excellent every single day.

WHAT THE PARENTS THINK

People always says you eat way too much on a cruise ship. Some of the reasons have to do with the extravagant offerings at the buffets. I have another theory why we eat more than we should. When you’re on a cruise ship, you’re day tends to be scheduled around all your meals and your activities after that. We would go to breakfast around 8:30 and lunch is only a couple hours away. But I’m not complaining. I ate very healthy and ate mostly at the appetizer display counter.

Overall the Disney Cruise out of San Diego Cruise Terminal was fantastic. Living in San Diego, I hopped on the ship and was officially on vacation in less than one hour after boarding. No rental car, no plane delays, no coach seats.

The food as expected was amazing. Breakfast and Lunch was buffet style. Dinner was sit down at different restaurants every night. If an adult wanted a quite meal without the kids, they had one adult restaurant on the ship. There was also an adult only coffee shop. The mochas weren’t free but the peace and quite was.

This is one very important takeaway if you have to measure carbohydrates during your meals. As an example if we go to any new restaurant, say Italian food, and order a dish like lasagna, we would have to do an educated guess on what the carbs are going to be. I’ll pull out my phone, goto one of the nutritional apps and find the closest lasagna to the new one I want to eat.

This is easier said than done on a cruise ship. I forgot we’re in the pacific ocean. My phone doesn’t work, I have no data, and I’m not about to pay an arm and leg for the use of Wi-Fi on the ship. Nutritional information was also unavailable for any of the food served on this Disney Cruise. Moral of the story, do your homework. You more than likely know what you’re going to eat at a buffet. For me it’s salmon, crab, and shrimp (0 carbs!). Kids carbs are simple to calculate. They have all the classics: mac&cheese, pizza, nuggets, burgers, etc.. No carb info on this trip. Instead we’ve included a picture gallery of some of the food we had. Enjoy!
