Knock Around Summer Camp is held at UCSD. There are a variety of different camps that a child can enroll in, from Leadership to Archery. There is also a general camp that just does group games and activities.
Each day at knock around follows a basic schedule with a few exceptions (such as Beach Camp and Archery): 1. Do the chosen camp activity until lunchtime. 2. Eat lunch 3. Do group games until pickup.
The staff here are very helpful and accommodating. They are flexible with schedules, and allow parents to pick up their child at almost any time during the camp. They also schedule fun group games during the day and during lunch.
There is a hospital near UCSD, so there is good medical care if there is an emergency. Lunch is not provided at knock around, but a small snack will be provided after lunch and swim time.
PARENT REVIEW – I still remember the first summer, I wanted to sign my son to this camp. I literally had to get there at 3 am to get in line so that I can pick the sought after classes he wanted. That process is no longer there. Now they just email you on when to come based on your seniority.
There are many reasons to love this camp. The camp leadership headed by Gidget and her team of counselors are top notch. Many of these counselors come back every summer. My son always looks forward to seeing everyone. The camps they offer here are engaging with just the right amount of summer fun. They also have a early drop off and late pickup for a small fee. Plenty of parking but your kids will have to pack a lunch.
